During this time he also worked as a works driver for Alfa Romeo Germany and, in addition to the GTA, also drove the racing prototype Tipo 33/2 in various races. Together with Herbert Schultze , he won the 1973 300 km race at the Nürburgring in an Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 Junior . This win was the highlight of his involvement with Alfa Romeo.

In 1973 Stenzel started as a private driver in the German Racing Championship (DRM) with a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR , where he won the 1st division of the Sauerland Mountain Prize in the same year. After this victory he came under contract with the Max Moritz racing team and drove there from 1974 to 1977 first a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR and from 1976 a Porsche 934 in the DRM and the European championship for GT vehicles. His best placement in the DRM was a 6th place overall.

After retiring from motorsport, he took over his parents' hotel in Munich, which he ran until 1980. He then founded an asset management and property developer company that he still runs today with his two sons.
