Ferfried Maximilian Pius Meinrad Maria Hubert Michael Justinus Prince of Hohenzollern (born April 14, 1943 in Umkirch ) is a former touring car racing driver. He comes from the Swabian line Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen of the House of Hohenzollern .

biography

Ferfried Prinz von Hohenzollern was born as the youngest son of Friedrich von Hohenzollern and his wife Margarete at Umkirch Castle and was given by Pope Pius XII. baptized. His father called himself "Prince" and was head of the House of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen until 1965 ; his mother belonged to the Albertine Wettiner line and was a daughter of the last Saxon king Friedrich August III.

After studying law, von Hohenzollern competed in regular races in Europe from 1966 as a private driver with his own BMW vehicle, which in 1969 led to him being accepted into the BMW works team.

In 1971, as a BMW works driver in a BMW 2002, he was the winner of the second 24-hour race at the Nürburgring . Von Hohenzollern and Gerold Pankl fought a three-way battle with Rüdiger Faltz / Hans-Jürgen Schulte-Oversohl and Karl-Heinz Eisenschenk / Hans-Günther Stoffel in the race.

After 36 years of absence from active racing, he took part in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in 2007 for the private motorsport team Live-Strip.com Racing . A BMW M 3 Compact was used as the racing car .

Von Hohenzollern has lived in Munich since 2010 .

His first marriage was on September 21, 1968 at Sigmaringen Castle, Angela von Morgen (born November 11, 1942 - January 11, 2019), daughter of Ernst von Morgen and his wife Margarethe, née Countess von Görtz . In 1999 he married Maja Synke Meinert (born October 8, 1971) for the third time. The childless marriage ended in divorce in March 2007.

Media appearances

In 2004, von Hohenzollern, who was third at the time, made his relationship with Tatjana Gsell public through the media. From May 8, 2006, the private broadcaster RTL II broadcast the four-part documentary soap Tatjana & Foffi - Cinderella becomes a princess , where “Foffi” is supposed to mean Ferfried.

His great-great-grandfather Karl Anton was the last ruling prince of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen until 1849. Von Hohenzollern had three brothers and three sisters. His brother Friedrich Wilhelm was head of the Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen house until 2010 ; his nephew Karl Friedrich von Hohenzollern has been the head of the family ever since. Von Hohenzollern's brother Johann Georg married Birgitta von Sweden . Von Hohenzollern made his nephew Leopold von Bayern , who was hardly younger, also interested in professional racing.
