The Neudeck correctional facility was a correctional facility for women and young people in the Au district of Munich from 1904 to 2009 . The correctional facility was operated as a branch of the Stadelheim correctional facility.
history
A penitentiary at the same location was demolished after the inmates were transferred to Straubing on July 1, 1901 . The current building was built between 1902 and 1904. In March 1943 stayed here after the interrogations in the Gestapo - prison Wittelsbach Palais temporary members of the White Rose , u. a. Alexander Schmorell and Kurt Huber , imprisoned pending their trial before the People's Court . After 1945, prison for women and young people were in the same building, but operated separately. The prison operation was discontinued in June 2009 and moved to the new penal institution in Schwarzenbergstr. 14 / Munich-Giesing in the immediate vicinity of the JVA Stadelheim .
In the Neudeck building complex there were a total of 124 detention places (72 in the women's ward and 52 in the youth detention center ; these in turn were divided into 43 male and 9 female detention places). In the women's department, custody pending deportation , pre- trial detention and short-term detention were usually served in the first prison sentence. The youth arrest was divided into leisure and short-term arrest as well as permanent arrest.
Future of the building
The budget committee of the Bavarian state parliament decided in May 2010 to sell the property. One of the interested parties was the association BISS (Citizens in Social Difficulties) , who wanted to realize a special social project on the property. The building was to be converted into a 4-star hotel that would enable young people from socially difficult backgrounds to get an apprenticeship.
However, a private real estate investor was awarded the contract for the property. He plans to convert the listed building into apartments, including for student accommodation. The building will be available for temporary cultural uses until construction begins. For example, in June 2012 an event of the UAMO Urban Art & Media Organization took place.
In 2017 it is clear that luxury apartments will be built here.
