Bicholim is a city in the Indian state of Goa .

The city is that part of the North Goa District . Bicholim has the status of a Municipal Council . The city is divided into 10 wards (constituencies).

Demographics

The city's population is 16,986 according to the 2011 census. Bicholim has a gender ratio of 937 women per 1000 men and thus a male surplus typical for India. The literacy rate was 91.9% in 2011. Almost 81% of the population are Hindus , around 16% are Muslims and around 3% are Christians and less than 1% belong to another or no religion. 10.5% of the population are children under 6 years of age.
