The Bicknell's Thrush ( Catharus bicknelli ) is a medium-sized songbird from the thrush family. This species was discovered in the Catskills by Eugene Bicknel, an amateur ornithologist, in the late 19th century .
features
The upper side of the Bicknell's Thrush is olive-brown with a slightly reddish tail. The underside is white with gray flanks. The gray-brown breast has darker spots. Other features are the pink legs, gray cheeks and gray circles under the eyes. In the past, the bird was considered one species together with the slightly larger gray-cheeked thrush .
Occurrence
The Bicknell's Thrush breeds in coniferous forests from southeastern Québec to Nova Scotia and northern New England and migrates to the West Indies for the winter.
