The catharus or Nachtigall chokes ( Catharus ) are a genus from the family of the chokes (Turdidae), the twelve types found in North, Central and South America. The generic name is derived from the Greek καθαρός (katharós = pure), which refers to the unspotted plumage of the type species , the golden-billed muse thrush ( Catharus aurantiirostris ). These are mostly hidden birds that are known for their pleasant song.
features
The muse thrushes are inconspicuous, darkly colored birds. Some species have a black cap. The belly of most species is light with dark spots. The outermost wings of the wings are long.

The Bicknell's thrush ( Catharus bicknelli ), Wilson's throttle ( Catharus fuscescens ), the Gray-cheeked thrush ( Catharus minimus ), the Hermit throttle ( Catharus guttata ) and the dwarf throttle ( Catharus ustulatus ) are migratory, which pull to breed to North America and occasionally as mistakenly find their way also occur in Europe. The other species are tropical resident birds .
