The Biegenburg , also called Beyenburg , is the ruin of a hilltop castle near Blitzenreute in the Ravensburg district in Baden-Württemberg .
investment
The castle is located on a hill above the ravine between Blitzenreute and Staig. A moat directed towards Blitzenreute and a few remains of the wall have survived from the castle complex .
history
The castle was probably built at the beginning of the 13th century by the Lords of Biegenburg, a family of Staufer ministers .
By inheritance, the Biegenburg came into the possession of Schmalegg's taverns around 1270 . The knight Ulrich von Hörningen inherited the castle complex in the second half of the 14th century, but had to sell the castle and the associated possessions in the spring of 1404 to the Weingarten monastery for 6,000 florins . At the beginning of the 15th century, the castle complex deteriorated so that only a few remains are preserved today.
