Big Hit Entertainment ( Hangeul : 빅 히트 엔터테인먼트 ) or BigHit is a South Korean entertainment agency and record label founded by Bang Si-hyuk in 2005. Currently, there are a soloist Lee Hyun and the idol group BTS and TXT in BigHit under contract.

history

The company was founded on February 4, 2005 by music producer Bang Si-hyuk. Two years later, the label signed the vocal trio 8Eight . The group disbanded in 2014.

In 2010 BigHit and JYP signed a joint contract with boy group 2AM . That same year, Bang Si-hyuk hosted a global casting, which was how he discovered RM and introduced him as the first member of BTS. BTS made its debut in 2013 .

When the joint contract with JYP expired in 2014, Lee Chang-min remained the only member of 2AM with BigHit and later made his debut with Lee Hyun under the name Homme . The duo broke up in 2018. While Lee Chang-min left the label, Lee Hyun continued his career as a solo singer.

In 2018, BigHit announced that BTS had extended its contract for another seven years until 2026 before it expired.

In March 2019, BigHit's second idol group called TXT (Tomorrow X Together) made their debut .

In mid-2019, Big Hit Entertainment took over the entertainment company Source Music, to which u. a. belongs to the girl group GFriend .
