Education check NRW
The Bildungsscheck NRW is a funding program of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia that uses funds from the European Social Fund (ESF) to support participation in professional training. The Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs NRW (MAGS NRW) is responsible for the program. The Society for Innovative Employment Promotion supports and accompanies the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in the implementation of the funding program. The focus is on accompanying the educational counseling centers set up for the educational check.
Employees (individually or through the employer), self-employed and those returning to work can be funded . 50 percent of the course or seminar costs are covered, up to a maximum of EUR 500.
Eligibility criteria (since April 1st, 2020)
The basis of the funding is the guideline on the granting of grants for the promotion of measures that are co-financed with funds from the European Social Fund in the funding phase 2014 to 2020 (ESF funding guideline 2014-2020) .
The NRW education check with individual access : For employees, self-employed and those returning to work
Employees, the self-employed and those returning to work residing in North Rhine-Westphalia are eligible for individual access. The taxable annual income must be more than 20,000 euros and must not exceed 40,000 euros. In the case of joint investments, it is 40,000 euros and 80,000 euros, respectively. The size of the company does not matter. An education voucher can be purchased per calendar year.
The NRW education check in company access : For companies with fewer than 250 employees
Companies that work in North Rhine-Westphalia can receive up to ten education checks for various employees per calendar year. There are no income limits for these, but the company must prove that it has fewer than 250 employees. In the same year, employees who have completed further training through their company can also purchase an education check for individual access, provided they meet the requirements for this.
What is funded:
Further training courses serving professional qualification and imparting technical skills or key qualifications are eligible. Job-related adaptation qualifications are not intended for funding, e.g. B. Machine operator training and product launches. Further training courses for which there is a different funding basis are not eligible for an education check. Company education checks cannot be issued for municipalities, districts, cities and state authorities. Likewise, an educational check funding is no longer granted for further professional training for which there is a legal obligation to assume the costs by the employer (e.g. safety engineer, data protection officer, officer for immission control or for further training in load securing, works council seminars) .
Courses can also be carried out in the form of e-learning . In-house courses are also funded. Companies can possibly use the funding offer Potentialberatung NRW to determine qualification needs.
The federal education premium has priority over the NRW education check.
Advice centers
Those interested in further training can contact one of the 250 Bildungsscheck advice centers in North Rhine-Westphalia. Advice is provided, for example, in municipal further education institutions such as adult education centers , in many chambers of industry and commerce , in the chambers of crafts , at some regional agencies and business development agencies .
Redeeming the education voucher
The education check must be redeemed before the start of the course or seminar with a provider listed on the education check. It is also valid for 6 months from the date of issue. The course must have started by then. Since the education check is only issued once, it cannot be retrieved if it is lost. A registered mail (with insurance cover) may therefore be useful. Ultimately, the company only has to pay the price minus the value of the education voucher.
