Froneri Ice Cream Deutschland GmbH , formerly Roncadin GmbH and R&R Ice Cream Deutschland GmbH , is an ice cream manufacturer and subsidiary of the British Froneri Group.
The company produces both classic and unusual ice cream shapes and recipes. In addition to trade brands, the product range includes own and licensed brands, for example Landliebe ice cream for FrieslandCampina Germany .
history
Regina Roncadin, an Italian, opened her first ice cream parlor in Osnabrück in 1932 . Her nephew Edoardo Roncadin took over the ice cream shop in 1964 and opened another branch in Münster that same year. In 1970 he founded a chain of ice cream parlors in Germany. To meet the demand for ice cream, a production facility was set up in Osnabrück in 1982.
In 1997, Girki was taken over in France and Roncadin SA was then founded . In 2000 Roncadin took over the Dr. Oetker ice cream division and thus entered the German branded goods business. In 2004 Roncadin took over Zielona Budka in Poland.
In 2005, Roncadin was taken over by the US investment fund Oaktree Capital Management . In 2006 Roncadin took over the ice cream division of Nordmilch eG. In the same year, Oaktree Capital took over the British ice cream maker Richmond Foods . In 2007 the two sister companies Roncadin and Richmond Foods were merged and carried the common name R&R Ice Cream , the Roncadin GmbH from Osnabrück changed its name to R&R Ice Cream Deutschland GmbH .
In spring 2013, Oaktree sold the R&R Ice Cream Group to the French private equity fund PAI partners .
In October 2016, R&R Ice Cream merged with the ice cream division of Nestlé (including Schöller ) to form the new joint venture Froneri Ltd., in the course of which the Osnabrück-based company renamed Froneri Ice Cream Deutschland GmbH in 2017 .
