Froneri is a global food manufacturer headquartered in the village of Leeming Bar near Northallerton , North Yorkshire in the United Kingdom. He is one of the largest ice cream producers in the world.
history
The company was founded in 2016 as a joint venture between the Swiss food company Nestlé and the British ice cream manufacturer R&R Ice Cream , a subsidiary of the French affiliate PAI partners . In Froneri, Nestlé and R&R merged their ice cream activities in Europe, the Middle East (excluding Israel), Argentina, Australia, Brazil, the Philippines and South Africa, as well as Nestlé's European frozen foods business (including, for example, the German Erlenbacher Backwaren GmbH, but not the frozen pizza and retail frozen food sectors in Italy) and the Nestlé business with chilled dairy products in the Philippines. R&R Ice Cream goes completely into the new company. Nestlé and PAI partners each hold 50% of the share capital of Froneri. Since April 1, 2017, the ice cream and baked goods manufacturer Nestlé Schöller GmbH, founded by Theo Schöller , has been operating under the new name Froneri Schöller GmbH. R&R Ice Cream Deutschland GmbH, based in Osnabrück , has been operating under the name Froneri Ice Cream Deutschland GmbH since then .
In autumn 2017 it became known that a factory in Tavros / Greece and one in Parma / Italy will be closed.
Key figures, market position
The company employs 15,000 people at locations in over 20 countries and has an estimated turnover of around 2.6 billion euros, of which around 700 million euros come from R&R Ice Cream. The global market share is just under 12%, making Froneri the second largest ice cream manufacturer behind Unilever (including the Langnese brand ) with 23%.

The CEO of Froneri is the previous CEO of R&R Ice Cream, Ibrahim Najafi, and Luis Cantarell, Nestlé Executive Vice President for Europe, Middle East and North Africa, chairs the Board of Directors.
Brands
Among the ice cream brands manufactured by Froneri, Nestlé mainly includes Schöller , Frisco , Mövenpick and Häagen-Dazs ; R&R Ice Cream includes, among other things, the ice cream license lines of the Landliebe ( FrieslandCampina ), Toblerone , Oreo and Milka (all Mondelēz ) brands, as well as various private labels . The brands Mars , Snickers , Bounty , Twix (all Mars Inc. ) have not been produced by R&R or Froneri since 2017; Mars Inc. has also taken over their distribution itself again.
