The history of the education center of the LSB Rhineland-Palatinate (also referred to as Bildungswerk Sport ) begins on August 5, 1974, 4:00 p.m., in Bretzenheim an der Nahe, when the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Bildung und Sport eV Rhineland-Palatinate was founded.

The following took part in the founding meeting: August Zeuner , Werner Tag, Günther Göres, Walter Grünig, Erich Fuchs, Eugen Müller, Else Klein, Georg Eikamp, Wilhelm Weiler, Willi Klein and Werner Zöbel. Thus the were Landessportbund , the sports associations Rhineland, Rheinhessen and Pfalz that Sportjugend Rhineland-Palatinate as well as all over local educational institutions and institutes represented the sport in Rhineland-Palatinate.

In the years that followed, this led to the development of the State Sports Association (LSB). This made Rhineland-Palatinate the first federal state in which an educational institute was set up to sponsor sport. In 1980 the education center of the LSB received state recognition as a further education institution. 20 years later, the educational center has grown to become the third largest further education institution in Rhineland-Palatinate behind the adult education centers and the Catholic adult education institution.
