Bill Pritchard was born in 1964 in the British county of Staffordshire . At the age of 20 he produced the cassette Berlin 1935 , after which he was able to release his first two albums Bill Pritchard and Half a million on the label Third Mind Records in the following two years , the alternative synth-pop and indie music accompanied exclusively by guitar. Songs contained. A stay abroad in Bordeaux , France , led to an enthusiasm for French films, literature and music and finally to an album production with the French singer Daniel Darc. The joint album Parce Que received long-lasting recognition. His subsequent two Britpop albums Three Months, Three Weeks and Two Days and Jolie from 1989 and 1991 were released internationally by the PIAS label . Although they went largely unnoticed in his home country, they were successful in France , Belgium and Italy as well as in the USA and Canada through music video broadcasts on MTV . After problems with his contract with the Polygram label , which did not result in any music being released, an album was only released again in 1998 on the indie label Ncompass , which received little attention. In the following 15 years only one album was released in France, By Paris, by Taxi, by Accident , which was influenced by French pop .

Since 2014, albums have been released regularly on the German label Mural Records , which he produces with Tim Bradshaw, who had already worked on his 1998 album Happiness and Other Crimes . With a successful reissue of his 1988 album with Daniel Darc and several tribute concerts for Daniel Darc, who died in 2013, Pritchard reunited with French musicians and recorded the album Rendez-vous Streets with Frédéric Lo , which was released in 2019 under the name Pritchard & Lo was released on CD and vinyl. It also includes a vocal duet with Étienne Daho .

Pritchard lives in Newcastle-under-Lyme and, in addition to his work as a musician, also works as a French teacher.
