The Billy is a French breed of dog recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 6, Section 1.1, Standard No. 25 ).
Origin and history
The breed is named after the place Billy in Poitou , France , where the first breeder Hublot du Rivault lived. He used three dog breeds, the Céris , the Montaimboeuf and the Larrye , to breed the Billy . The billy was also threatened with extinction after the Second World War; only two specimens had survived the war. This extremely small gene pool makes the breed very susceptible to hereditary diseases.
description
The Billy is a well-built, strong dog up to 70 cm tall and weighing around 33 kg with straight and short hair in pure white or milk coffee white, or white with light orange or lemon colored spots or a coat. The lop ears are of medium length, set a little high for a French hound .
