Billy More is the stage name of the drag queen Massimo Brancaccio (born February 3, 1965 in Milan , † August 14, 2005 ). On the other hand, Billy More can be called a kind of fictional character, as more than one person is behind this name. Rather, it can be seen as a kind of music project designed in Italy . Well-known rhythms from the dance scene are used and pepped up with animal-like singing.

biography

The story of the Billy More project began on September 25, 1999 when producer Roberto Santini was on a business tour in a Milan club and met a drag queen performance that overwhelmed him. The travesty artist Billy More sang the then unknown song Up and Down (Don't fall in love with me) . Roberto Santini showed an immense interest in the person as well as in the hitherto unknown song and promptly had 25,000 CDs pressed.

Up and Down developed into a real hit, so that the song was played in all discos - even far beyond the borders of Italy . Billy More appeared in a number of clubs and on various television programs. A little later a video clip was shot and Billy More became known throughout Italy. Today it has become rather quiet about the Billy More project . Massimo Brancacci (his real name) died of leukemia in August 2005 .

Billy More achieved probably the greatest success with her debut single Up and Down , which even made it into the top 30 of the single charts in Germany. This resulted in appearances, for example, on the GIGA internet show and on the RTL show Top Of The Pops . Incidentally, the single was supported by the German sports broadcaster DSF , now Sport1 , so that the song was often used as an indicator at various sporting events.

With the second song The New Millennium Girl , Billy More wanted to get in the mood for the year 2000, but unlike in Italy, the song did not make it very high in the charts in Germany. The third song, Lonelines , followed , with Billy More allegedly processing her personal feelings about a failed relationship.

With the fourth song Come On And Do It , Billy More was able to build on their old success and even managed to sell around 400,000 records across Europe. In Germany, too, this song was played more and more on radio stations. But then it looked less pleasant. Singles like Keep On Burning , Dance or Weekend went completely under and were hardly to buy in Germany , so that the self-proclaimed dance queen concentrated more on Italy.

Oddities

There is a lot of arguing about the person Billy More , since the actual identity of this fictional character is not that clear. In insider circles it is rumored that behind that person there is a whole staff of people and they just always try to perfect Billy More . Different photo models as well as singers are said to have worked for the Billy More project .

It's a shame that the actual fan can never look behind the person who was allegedly discovered in Milan . In spite of this, the inclined listener is presented with sonorous elements from that very scene, which this Kurosium somewhat excuses.
