Overview
The center of the inner city is the Grote Markt with the town hall and the Martini tower . All historical streets started there and led to the other neighboring markets such as the fish market and the Martinikerkhof. Today, Groningen's most important shopping streets are located in the inner city, as are many restaurants and bars. The markets are still held today on the marketplaces themselves. In 2005, downtown Groningen was voted the most attractive in the Netherlands .
