John Brutzman Storm

John Brutzman Storm (born September 19, 1838 in Hamilton , Monroe County , Pennsylvania , †  August 13, 1901 in Stroudsburg , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1871 and 1875 and again from 1883 to 1887 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Storm attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1861 Dickinson College in Carlisle . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1863, he began to work in this profession in Stroudsburg. Between 1864 and 1871 he was also a school council in the local Monroe County. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party .

In the congressional election of 1870 Storm was elected in the eleventh constituency of Pennsylvania to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Daniel Myers Van Auken on March 4, 1871 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1875 . In 1874 he renounced another candidacy. In the elections of 1882 he was re-elected to Congress in the eleventh district of his state, where he replaced Robert Klotz on March 4, 1883 . After re-election in 1884, he was able to spend two more legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1887. In 1886 he did not stand for re-election.

After his time in the US House of Representatives, John Storm practiced as a lawyer again. In 1893 and 1894 he served as the presiding judge in the 43rd Judicial District of Pennsylvania. He died on August 13, 1901 in Stroudsburg.
