Stroudsburg is on Interstate 80 and 65 kilometers southeast of Wilkes-Barre . Stroudsburg is drained by the McMichael Creek , which flows through the Towns area from west to east. Stroudsburg lies above it in the catchment area of the Delaware River . The state of New Jersey begins a distance of three miles to the east.

history

In the 1830s Stroudsburg was settled by farmers . They later named the place "Stroudsburg" in honor of the settler Jacob Stroud. The Barry County Courthouse , built in 1890, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places , as was Stroud Manison , Kitson Woolen Mill, and Academy Hill Historic District .

The nearby East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania offers a variety of different undergraduate programs for students . The focus is on: health and physical education, biological sciences, business administration, computer science and psychology.

Demographic data

In 2014 a population of 5466 people was determined. The mean age at this point in time was 37.8 years, below the value of Pennsylvania, which was 40.6 years. 22.7% of today's residents can be traced back to immigrants from Germany. Other significant immigrant groups during the early days of the town came from Italy , 11.4% from Ireland and 9.45% from Puerto Rico .
