Biology model
A biology model is a model that is based on a model from living nature . Such a biology model can be an artistically or purely technically produced image. An experimental set-up in medical and biological research that, for example, is a model for another living being, is also referred to as a biology model.
Biology model maker is a 3-year recognized training occupation in industry.
Areas of application
Biology models play a role in various areas:
- They are used for demonstration purposes in training and teaching.
- Likewise in museums and exhibitions. There they also replace valuable originals that are too sensitive to be exhibited.
- In research, they are used for investigation and test purposes.
- In prosthetics , organic models replace real body parts; Examples of this are dentures and endoprostheses .
The entertainment industry also uses biology models. Take for example organic models
- Wax museum
- Ghost trains and cabinets of horrors
- Film industry
- watch TV
- theatre
Mobile biology models have to meet special requirements. These must withstand the loads that occur during movement. A natural appearance is not always the goal when producing organic models. One example is modern running prostheses for disabled sports . Here, speed counts more than being close to nature.
The use of computers allows special possibilities:
- Biomodels can be designed using CAD on the computer and tested virtually on the computer.
- For use in the field of computer graphics , real bio models can first be created in order to make the appearance and movement sequences realistic.
- Bio-models can also be made computer-controlled .
- Computers can be used to control movable bio models. Also, remote control , even via mobile phone or Internet , is possible.
Despite all the use of a computer, the production of biological models is still often manual work, especially when it comes to the production of individual pieces. The production of biological models is a training occupation, that of the biological model maker .
