Birger Thorin Grave , also Birger T. Grave , (born May 22, 1952 in Bremen ) is a German illustrator and comic artist.

biography

Grave completed an apprenticeship as a graphic artist in Bremen from 1968 to 1969. From 1970 to 1974 he studied at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Hamburg with a focus on illustration ( Wilhelm M. Busch ), free painting, conception and manual printing techniques. In 1974 he co-founded the children's painting school in Bremen, where he also taught until 1976. Subsequently, Grave worked as a layouter and illustrator for the agencies Economia (Hamburg), Gall (Lüneburg) and Eichenherr Werbung (Hamburg) until 1981.

From 1974 to 1978 he had solo exhibitions in Lübeln near Lüchow , Altenmedingen , Lüneburg and Hamburg and a group exhibition in Bremen. In 1981 he began his work as a freelance illustrator and story painter and as a lecturer at the HTK for illustration, comics and storyboard , today Hamburg Technical Art School , where he still teaches today.

In 2001 he founded the Hamburg Art Department for comics , illustration , storyboard and graphic design with three former students from HTK-Hamburg .
