Birgit Bütow

Birgit Bütow (* 1961 in Kleinmachnow ) is a German sociologist and social work scientist who researches and teaches in particular on issues relating to girls and women.

Bütow studied sociology at the University of Leipzig , passed the diploma examination in 1986 and received his doctorate in 1990 . Then she worked at the German Youth Institute in Munich. Since 1994 she has been teaching as a professor at the Ernst Abbe University in Jena . In 2005 she received her habilitation from the TU Dresden for educational sciences with a focus on social pedagogy . In addition to the University of Applied Sciences in Jena, she teaches at the University of Marburg ( private lecturer ) and the University of Zurich ( visiting professor ).

From 2000 to 2005, Bütow was chairwoman of Pro Familia , the Thuringian regional association.
