Birgit Fechner

Birgit Carmen Fechner (born January 20, 1965 in Wolfen ) is a German politician of the right-wing extremist NPD . Before that she was a member of the DVU in the Brandenburg state parliament .

Life

Fechner completed vocational training as a photo laboratory assistant between 1981 and 1983 . Then she studied the technology of inorganic and organic chemistry at the University of Applied Sciences "Justus von Liebig" in Magdeburg - Westerhüsen until 1986 , from which she graduated as a graduate chemical engineer (FH). Between 1986 and 1993 she worked in various jobs at the Wolfen film factory . From 1993 to 1995 she was a master of dismantling and in 1996 she completed a full-time qualification as a sales engineer . After she was unemployed in 1997, she took part in the advanced training course "Intensive seminar for technical and university graduates" from 1998 to 1999.

politics

Fechner was a member of the DVU since 1998 and from September 1999 to September 2009 a member of the Brandenburg state parliament. There she was a full member of the Petitions Committee, the Labor, Social Affairs, Health and Family Committee and the Youth, Education and Sport Committee. She attracted media attention when she said in a debate about the smoking ban (September 12, 2007) that the "comrades of the NSDAP [...] (had) had a high level of health awareness" . After her time as MP in Brandenburg, she returned to Saxony-Anhalt and ran unsuccessfully for the NPD. In November 2011 she became an assessor in the national board of the NPD. In this role she was appointed spokesperson for social policy. She is accompanied in many activities by her twin sister Karin Fechner .
