art

Exposure by Birgit Graschopf in a Viennese private house. The actor is shown Carl Pfann (1874–1928).

Her wall exposures are photographs that have the wall or the room itself as the image carrier with which they seem to merge. In her installative, space-related works, she always deals with what is already there. Mostly, as in the Albertina's “Intervention” from 2014, small-format photographs and autograph cards from the first half of the 20th century form the starting material for the (larger) life-size figures.

Graschopf's work can be found in various Austrian and international collections. In addition to free artistic work, Graschopf also does commissioned work. For a private house in Vienna she created an important work consisting of four parts, with black and white exposures by Carl Pfann and Maria von Guggenberg-Barska .
