The PARALLEL Vienna is an Austrian Fair for Contemporary Art . It was launched in 2013 and takes place annually in Vienna .

history

In 2013, Stefan Bidner , Daniel Haider and Max Lust founded PARALLEL Vienna to "parasitically" dock at the then largest art fair in Austria, the VIENNA FAIR . The foundation resulted from the endeavor to offer young and less well-known artists the opportunity to present themselves appropriately, prominently and thus also to question the selection criteria of the VIENNA FAIR.

In 2013, around 5,000 visitors were recorded in the former kuk telegraph office in Vienna , in 2014 it was already over 8,000 in the former Vienna customs office . In 2015, Max Lust left the team, which gave the option of restructuring. Due to the new requirements for the event, this was implemented in the form of a GmbH. Together with Kaveh Ahi, Stefan Bidner and Daniel Haider founded Parallel Art GmbH in 2015 . This was followed, this time in the Alte Post , with a trade fair with around 13,000 visitors and in the following year, in 2016, one with more than 15,000 art lovers. In 2017, around 16,000 people visited the art fair in Schnirchgasse 9a, in the former premises of the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna. PARALLEL Vienna grew again in size in 2018 and moved to Lassallestrasse 1 in Vienna's 2nd district .
