Birgit Winterhoff

Birgit Winterhoff (born June 15, 1953 ) is a German Evangelical Lutheran pastor and author.

Live and act

Winterhoff studied theology in Bielefeld and Heidelberg. After the first theological exam, she worked in the travel service for the YMCA-Westbund from 1978 to 1983 . She was pastor in the Protestant Church of Westphalia , in 1983 as vicar and from 1984 to 2008 as pastor in Halle (Westphalia) . From 2008 to 2016 she was the head of the Office for Missionary Services in the Evangelical Church of Westphalia.

In addition to her work as a pastor, she also performed a few other tasks. From 1992 she was the spokesperson for morning prayers in the WDR program for almost 20 years . From 1997 to 2004 she was the first woman to lead the youth evangelization work group (AGJE, Berlin) and from 2005 to 2011 she was chairwoman of the Lausanne Movement in Germany . She worked for several years in the "Prisma" series of the Evangeliums-Rundfunk . She has been a board member of the ERF since 2000, and was vice-chairwoman from 2002 to 2007. After that she was a member of the newly formed board of directors of the ERF until 2011. She was significantly involved in the planning and implementation of the Christival 1996 in Dresden and was a member of the executive board for the Christival 2002 in Kassel. Winterhoff was chairwoman of the youth evangelization working group for 7 years. From 1997 to 2015 she was a member of the main board of the German Evangelical Alliance .

She has been married to her husband Klaus since 1982 and lives in Bielefeld .
