"This anthology makes an important contribution to the objectification of the now highly emotional debate about the relationship between the historical“ Orient ”and the Habsburg Monarchy, but also the relationship between Austria and the Ottoman Empire and Turkey up to the 1960s before and after 1918. Years. A scientifically shaped sober look at the historical interrelationships is an important contribution to a democratic and enlightened educational work in the present, precisely because of the current functionalization of history between "Orient" and "Occident". "

“The present volume positions itself within the more recent historiographical perspectives on the relationship between Orient and Occident: Not only armed conflicts are discussed, but exemplary deep drilling shed light on numerous aspects of a diverse exchange.
