Birte Kjems

Birte Kjems (born April 9, 1949 ) is a former Danish soccer player .

Kjems, who acted in the goalkeeping position , made his debut on July 27, 1974 in the first Nordic Championship 1974 against the selection of Sweden . Kjems has been called up six times for the Danish selection . At club level she played for the former successful Danish women's champion Ribe BK .

Already in 1971 she had participated with a Danish selection in the 2nd, organized by the FIEFF and thus unofficial Women's World Cup in 1971 in Mexico and in this tournament after a 3-0 final victory over the hosts - all three goals scored the only 15- year old Susanne Augustesen  - won the title. This final took place in the Aztec Stadium in front of almost 110,000 spectators, the highest number of spectators at a women's soccer game into the 21st century, while Birte Kjems, like her teammates, usually "at home before 50 or 100, if it came up, sometimes in front of 300 visitors" played.
