Birte Thimm , born on March 6, 1987 in Leverkusen , is a German national basketball player .

Life

She attended the District Administrator Lucas-Gymnasium in Leverkusen and began her studies in 2008 at the Ruhr University Bochum . Birte Thimm is the daughter of the former national basketball player Norbert Thimm .

The 1.80 m tall player, who is used both as a winger and as a power forward , began playing basketball in Leverkusen. After a year-long stay in the USA, Birte Thimm played at BBZ Leverkusen / SVU Opladen in 2005. For the 2006/2007 season she moved to the first division club New Basket '92 Oberhausen , where she took over the role of team captain at the end of 2012 . For the 2014/2015 season she moved to league competitor BC Marburg. For the 18/19 season, Thimm now moved to league competitor TK Hannover.

National teams

Birte Thimm went through all youth national teams and was appointed to the senior national team for the first time in 2008. In the preparatory game for the additional European Championship qualification on December 29, 2008 against Belgium in Liège , she was used for the first time in the national team and scored 3 points. On January 7, 2009, she played her first competitive game and scored 2 points against Ukraine in Kiev . She has now been on the German A-squad 58 times (as of August 2015).
