The blue-gray tanager ( Tangara episcopus , Syn. : Thraupis episcopus ), also Bischofstangare or Blue Gray Tanager called, is a bird art the genus Schillertangaren ( Tangara ) from the family of the Tanager (Thraupidae). Their natural range extends from Mexico to Peru and northwestern Brazil . The species is also found on Tobago and Trinidad .

The body plumage of the blue tangerine is slate gray. The upper wing covers are colored bluish green to turquoise blue. Females are colored similarly to males, but their plumage is more greenish in tone. The song of the blue tangerine is a squeaky twittering sound.
The birds are free breeders . The female lays two to three eggs. The incubation period is 13 to 14 days.
