Diocese of Larino

The former diocese of Larino ( Latin Larinensis ), located in Italy , was founded in the 5th century and belonged to the ecclesiastical province of Campobasso-Boiano .

Between 1949 and 1978 the number of Catholics living in it fell from 71,800 to 53,400, while the number of parishes rose from 22 to 23. During this period, the number of diocesan priests living in it fell from 51 to 36, while the number of religious priests rose from 0 to 5 and that of religious sisters from 42 to 110.

On September 30, 1986, the Diocese of Larino was combined with the neighboring Diocese of Termoli to form the Diocese of Termoli-Larino , which ended the existence of the Diocese of Larino.
