The diocese of Pingliang ( Latin : Dioecesis Pimliamensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Pingliang in the People's Republic of China .

history

Pope Pius IX founded the Apostolic Prefecture Pingliang with the Breve Longinquis in regionibus on January 25, 1930 from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Qinzhou . With the Apostolic Constitution Indefesso Constantique it was raised to the diocese on April 11, 1946. The only official bishop was Ignacio Gregorio Larrañaga Lasa OFMCap (1930–1975).

In 1988, Philippe Ma Ji was appointed official bishop by the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association , who died on February 11, 1999. On September 5, 1999, he was followed by the illegal Bishop Nicholas Han Jide , who was ordained in September 1996 by Philippe Ma Ji, who later selected him as his successor. However, on September 22, 2018, this was recognized by Pope Francis.
