The diocese of Xuanhua ( Latin : Dioecesis Siuenhoavensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Xuanhua in the People's Republic of China .
history
Pope Pius XI founded the Apostolic Vicariate Süanhwafu with the Breve Expedit on May 10, 1926 from cessions of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Beijing . The first Vicar Apostolic, Philippe Zhao Huai-yi , was one of the first six Chinese bishops appointed by Pope Pius XI. were ordained bishops in Rome on October 28, 1926 .
With the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos it was raised to the diocese on April 11, 1946. In 1980, the Chinese government merged the Chongli-Xiwanzi and Xuanhua dioceses and created the Zhangjiakou diocese , which was not recognized by the Holy See .
