Biswan is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
The city is part of the Sitapur district . Biswan has the status of a Nagar Palika Parishad . The city is divided into 25 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had 55,780 inhabitants, of which 29,059 were men and 26,721 were women. Muslims make up the majority of the city's population. The literacy rate in 2011 was 71.31%.
Biswan was founded around the 15th century. It is named after a yogi named Bishwar.
