He had only a small supporting role in the film A Swedish Love Story taken when he 15 years the role of Tadzio in Luchino Visconti's film Death in Venice (1971) based on the novella Death in Venice by Thomas Mann received. The film made the actor internationally known, who later commented critically about the sudden fame and the sexual affections that men and women then brought to the teenager. He criticized the feminist Germaine Greer for using his picture on the cover of her controversial book The Beautiful Boy (2003) without consent. In an interview with Stern magazine in 2002, Andrésen expressed himself ambivalent about his fame from the role of Tadzios:

“Tadzio wasn't a trauma, but an annoying shadow. Life without him would definitely have been easier, but also less interesting. "

After the success with Death in Venice , he went to Japan for some time , where he had several hit songs as a singer and became a teenage star. To this day, appearances in Swedish films and television series have followed, whereby he mostly consciously tried to break away from the Tadzio image with his choice of roles. Only a few of Andrésen's later roles, including a recurring role in the series Springflut and a guest role in the crime series Mankells Wallander , managed to broadcast in German-speaking countries. He was also the manager of a small theater in the 1980s. Andrésen sees himself primarily as a musician, as this was his passion before acting. He played in various bands, including the Sven Erics dance band , and gave private music lessons.

Andrésen now lives in a small apartment in Stockholm and has a daughter named Robine with his ex-wife Suzanna. Their first-born son died in 1986 from sudden infant death , which also caused the couple to separate.
