Action of the 1st season

Olivia Rönning, a young student at the police college, is given the task of solving a cold case exercise on the unsolved "beach murder" from 1990, in which an unknown, apparently Latin American pregnant woman on the beach on the Swedish island of Nordkoster up to was dug into her shoulders and drowned in a spring tide .

When she finds out that her late father was involved in the "Beach Case," Olivia becomes obsessed with the case. She decides to contact Tom Stilton, the chief inspector who led the investigation 25 years ago. He currently leads a homeless life and initially shows little enthusiasm to help Olivia with the case.

In the next shot, characters from the homeless are introduced. A caravan of the homeless will often represent important plot scenes. It quickly becomes clear that the group has aggressive opponents who strike brutally to drive away the homeless. One of them, Bensemann, is almost beaten to death. The photos are posted on the Internet by the perpetrators.

criticism

kino.de says: “The pursuit of role models like ' Commissioner Lund ' or ' Die Brücke ' is unmistakable, there is no lack of classic Scandi Noir ingredients. Indeed, the Swedish-German coproduction about a police student who sneaks into a 25-year-old cold case ignites a great deal of tension and lets several threads unheard. Sometimes the concept shimmers through a little too much. And a prominent main character like Sarah Lund or Saga Norén cannot be found straight away. "

The critics of the TV magazine TV-Spielfilm believe that the Springflut series shows where the Scandic Noir genre is developing.

Harald Keller writes in the Frankfurter Rundschau : “A new Swedish thriller turns out to be a hodgepodge of tried and tested models. Speculative scenes cover up script weaknesses, the tension is artificially stoked. "[...]" The limits in the crime genre are shifting towards horror . "

Sven Hauberg writes for the TV magazine prisma : “ Springflut takes a lot of time to illuminate the homeless environment, and Julia's investigations are also rather slow. After all, the series consists of five roughly 80-minute parts, so speed is not that important. What is astonishing, however, is that the main character of all things remains a little colorless. A student may not be as exciting as an investigator after all, like a worn-out ex-cop waiting for a second chance. "
