Blaž Furdi

Blaž Furdi (born May 27, 1988 ) is a Slovenian cyclist .

Furdi was 2004 Slovenian champion in the individual time trial of the youth class. As a junior rider, he won a stage of the Giro di Toscana and the Tour de Lorraine in 2006 .

In the adult category, Furdi was fourth in the U23 event of the classic Ronde van Vlaanderen and eighth in the road race of the U23 European Championship. In the 2010 season he won the first stage of the Istrian Spring Trophy , which he finished second overall, the one-day race Gran Premio Palio del Recioto and the Slovenian U23 championship in the individual time trial.

In May 2012, Furdi tested positive for amphetamines . He explained this doping finding by saying that he "unknowingly consumed speed" at a rave party in Slovenia.
