The Black Forest Academy (BFA) is a private English-speaking boarding school with a Christian view of the world in Kandern . Founded in 1956 by the Missionswerk Janz Team , it is now part of their organization TeachBeyond and teaches over 300 students, mainly children from international missionary and entrepreneurial families .

development

In 1956 the Janz team founded a school for the children of its employees in Basel , which enabled a school education based on Christian values. Due to the steady increase in the number of pupils, the school was relocated to Lörrach in Germany in 1965 , to Sitzenkirch in 1972 and finally to Kandern in 1984 .

The Black Forest Academy currently has around 300 students. Most of them are so-called Third Culture Kids , whose parents are engaged in missionary or business activities in over 45 countries in Europe , the Middle East and Africa . In addition to the approximately 150 boarding school students who are housed in eight dormitories in and around Kandern, there are other students from the surrounding area, including the neighboring countries of France and Switzerland .
