Blackall is a small town in Queensland , Australia , about 1,100 km west of the capital Brisbane . The city is located on the Barcoo River and had 1,058 inhabitants in 2016. <refname = ABS />

It is the administrative center of the Blackall-Tambo Regional Council , which is determined by extensive grazing, especially of sheep. The most famous resident was the sheep shearer Jack Howe . In 1892 he sheared 321 sheep in 7 hours and 40 minutes with normal scissors. A record that was only broken with the invention of the electric scissors in 1950.
