The Blackend Nunatak (from English blackend 'black end' ) is a striking and 2553 m high nunatak on the eastern edge of the Australian Antarctic Territory . With its unsnow-covered black cliffs, especially on its southern flank, it rises at the upper end of the southern arm of the Darwin Glacier in the Transantarctic Mountains .
The team to explore the Darwin Glacier in the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) mapped it and named it descriptively. Since 1960 he has been on the list of the Antarctic Names Committee of Australia .
