Blacksmith Records was a German independent label based in Cottbus . It was founded in 2010 by Christoph Körner and Timo Schwämmlein. Most of the bands represented by the label belong to the extreme metal genre .
Company history
Christoph Körner and Timo Schwämmlein got to know each other while studying to be a sound engineer at SAE Berlin . After a few productions as part of their studies, they decided to give their products a suitable official framework and to offer their artists a platform to spread their music, for which purpose they founded the label in 2010. The location of the release party for the first release ( Arroganz - dark and deathless ), an old forge on the Cottbus train station premises , gave the label its name. This was followed by productions from the areas of Black , Death and Thrash Metal , all of which were recorded and produced in the label's own studio. In 2011, an internet dispatch and a Europe-wide distribution via New Music Distribution (NMD) were connected.
In 2013 the Austrian grindcore band Discure was signed . This was followed by the bands Miseo , Vermin and Brewed And Canned , whereby the genre orientation increasingly shifted towards Death Metal. In 2014, Arroganz left the label and switched to the Brandenburg label, FDA Records .
On April 25, 2015, Blacksmith Records announced that it would cease operations.
