Miseo ( ancient Greek for "hate") is a Hessian death metal band from Marburg , which was founded in 2013.

history

The band was founded in January 2013 by the guitarist and singer Fernando “Ferli” Thielmann ( Milking the Goatmachine ), the drummer Timo Claas ( Lay Down Rotten ) and the bassist André Rink. Thielmann founded the band because he still had ideas that he couldn't process with his other bands. Rink was also looking for something new because his band had just split up and Claas was already a long-time friend of Thielmann, whom he valued as a drummer. In March the group recorded their first material at the Desert Inn Studio in Edingen . After she had reached a record deal with Blacksmith Records in May , the EP The Dead Will Predominate was released in August . This was followed by several appearances in the same and the following year, with the group also playing at the Death Feast and Protzen Open Air. The band then recorded their debut album Lunatic Confessions in the Marburg Records and Cube Audio studios before it was released in September 2014 by Blacksmith Records. The album includes a cover version of the Bolt Thrower song No Guts, No Glory .

style

According to the band biography on miseo.de , the band plays Death Metal, with influences from the USA and old school influences from the 1990s. According to Sebastian Schilling from Rock Hard , the band still sounded on the EP as if they didn't know in which direction they should develop. Thielmann confirmed this in an interview with Schilling, because the band was still young and they didn't know how to best harmonize. The song Überzucht und Untergang von Lunatic Confessions is about the manipulation and influence of the media and government on people. People would believe anything you tell them. The other songs on the album are about confessions from madmen, such as a nice neighbor, who in reality has a lot to hide. A previous issue, Schilling had reviewed the band's debut album and described the music as well-produced and contemporary Death Metal, comparing the music with that of Misery Index . The songwriting is well thought out and there is a good mix between groovy and blastbeat passages. In addition, there are riffs "that even Bolt Thrower would not let fall under the table". The song Überzucht und Untergang has a crustcore influence and Harlots for God offers a repetitive groove.
