Blagowest No. 11L ( Russian Благовест №11Л , Kosmos-2520, 14F149) is a military communications satellite of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
He was born on August 16, 2017 at 22:07 UTC with a proton - carrier rocket from the rocket launch site Baikonur into a geostationary brought orbit and reached its position at 45 degrees East on 19 September.
The three-axis stabilized satellite is equipped with Ka-band , C-band and Q-band transponders and is supposed to supply Russia with telecommunication services from the position 45 ° East. It was built on the basis of the Ekspress-2000 satellite bus from ISS Reshetnjow in Schelesnogorsk and has a planned service life of 15 years. Parts of the communication payload come from Thales Alenia Space , which was initially involved in the development together with Reschetnjow (when the satellite was still to be used as a "dual use" for commercial purposes). Reshetnjow does not rule out future civil use of parts of the payload.
