The JSC Information Satellite Systems (alternative spelling ISS Reshetnev , Russian ОАО "Информационные спутниковые системы» имени академика М. Ф. Решетнёва ) is a Russian company in Zheleznogorsk (Krasnoyarsk) , the satellite produces.

history

The company was founded in 1959 as Branch 2 of Sergei Koroljows experimental design office OKB-1 (today RKK Energija ). A closed city near Krasnoyarsk , which was given the code name Krasnoyarsk-26 , was chosen as the location . The first chief designer was Mikhail Reshetnev , and as usual, the name of the manager was used for the entire plant.

On December 18, 1961, the previous OKB-1 branch under the name OKB-10 became its own design office. The first developments were the Kosmos 3 rocket and Strela military communications satellites . The maiden flight of Kosmos 3 with three Strela satellites took place on August 18, 1964 from Baikonur .

On March 6, 1966, OKB-10 was renamed NPO Prikladnoj Mechaniki ( Scientific-Producing Association for Technical Mechanics ), often abbreviated as NPO PM .

Many different types of satellites were developed in the following years, including:

  • Molnija , communications and television satellites in elliptical orbit
  • Sfera , Earth Surveying Satellite
  • Raduga , Gorisont , geostationary communications satellites
  • GLONASS , navigation satellite
  • Gals , Express commercial communications satellites controlled from the ground station on the NPO-PM site.
  • SESAT , first satellite for a foreign customer ( Eutelsat )

On October 23, 1997, NPO PM was officially named after the founder and first director Reshetnjow.

The factory has produced over 1200 satellites.

Current

ISS Reshetnev has around 8,500 employees, and Nikolai Testoyedov is the chief designer and general manager .
