Blake-More Godwin

Blake-More Godwin (born January 12, 1894 in Clinton (Missouri) , † June 1975 in La Jolla ) was an American art historian .

He studied at the University of Missouri (BA 1915) and Princeton University (MA 1916). After working as an assistant at the University of Missouri from 1912 to 1915, he was a fellow at Princeton University in 1915/16. From 1916 he worked at the Toledo Museum of Art in Toledo (Ohio) as a curator, from 1927 to 1959 as director of the museum.

In 1946 he hired Otto Wittmann as deputy director, who took care of the museum's new acquisitions and was his successor.
