Blanca Estrella de Méscoli

Blanca Estrella de Méscoli (born September 5, 1915 in San Felipe , Yaracuy state , Venezuela, † November 9, 1986 in Caracas ) was a Venezuelan composer and pianist.

Estrella had her first piano lessons with Rafael Limardo and Doralisa Jiménez de Medina . She later continued her training with Franco Medina in Barquisimeto . Here she taught piano at the music school and founded the Orquesta Guerra with Virgilio Valera , of which she was a pianist.

In 1941 she went to Caracas , where she studied at the Escuela Superior de Música José Ángel Lamas with Vicente Emilio Sojo . In 1948 she was the first woman in Venezuela to graduate with a Maestro Compositor diploma. In 1949 she married the violinist Mario Méscoli . In the same year she became a music education teacher at the Escuela Experimental Venezuela . From 1951 to 1953 she completed her training at Primo Casale .

In San Felipe the music school, the Conservatorio de Música Blanca Estrella de Méscoli , was named after her.
