Tomb of Blandina Goldbeck, made by Hans Hacke from Werben, around 1608

Blandina Goldbeck (born October 25, 1574 as Blandina Luidtke in Havelberg , † March 3, 1608 in Werben ) was a German housewife in Werben.

Descent, marriage, death

Blandina Luidtke was the daughter of Matthäus Ludecus (1517-1608) and Anna Daniels, the daughter of a merchant in Perleberg . She was born in Havelberg in 1574, after the father settled there with his wife and first-born son Matthäus Ludecus junior in 1562. had settled in order to achieve the status of a canonicus residence and to enjoy the benefices from his canonicals, which he had already obtained in 1554. In 1573, her father took over the office of dean at the Havelberg Cathedral . The five sons Matthæus, Marcus, Lucas , Johannes, Ernestus and two daughters Anna and Blandina came from the marriage . Blandina married Christoph Goldbeck (1568–1621) on May 12, 1595. He was councilor in Werben and Erbsaß (hereditary lord) on Räbel and Berge (districts of Werben). The marriage resulted in nine children born between 1596 and 1607. They died at a young age, so that the Werben branch of the respected patrician family Goldbeck died out. Christoph Goldbeck's parents were Andreas Goldbeck the Younger (1534–1596) and his wife Catherina Quadfasel. Andreas Goldbeck was several times mayor in Werben between 1579 and 1596 and also hereditary seat on Räbel and Berge.

Blandina Goldbeck died on March 3, 1608 at the age of only 34 years.

Tomb

Little is known about their life story. Information is contained in the tombstone in the Johanniskirche in Werben , which her husband had made. The stone was probably created by the advertiser "sculptor and carpenter" Hans Hacke , who also created the altar (1610) and the pulpit (1612) in the Stendal Jakobikirche . The sandstone tombstone is on the west wall of the Ottilien Chapel and is 1.90 m × 1.10 m in size. It is one of the most important gravestones in the Altmark and is of the highest artistic quality. The brocade robe and the rich jewelry are masterfully crafted.

The inscription reads:

ANNO 1608 THE 3rd MARTY EVENING VMB10 VHR IS THE HONOR AND DIVERSE MATRON BLANDINA LUIDTKENS OF THE VENNANT AND PROBABLY MR. CHRISTOF GOLTBEKEN ... T. W. VND IN RABEL. V. BERGE ERBSESSEN MARRIAGE HOUSEFRAW BLISSED ASLEEP.

In the figurine niche there are inscriptions and capitals: Your age in 34 Ihar and Bible verses from the 16th and 42nd Psalm. The coats of arms of the Luidken and Goldbek families are attached at the foot end. The maker's mark HH is chiseled under the console.

In Dehio's manual, the tombstone is described as "good quality". Hans-Georg von Goldbeck points out the great delicacy in the execution, which stands out from many similar representations. A young, richly dressed and adorned woman is shown, whose pretty youthful face is still impressive today.

A detailed description of the tombstone with the text inscription can be found on the homepage of the Altmärkischer Verein für Vaterländische Geschichte zu Salzwedel e. V.
