The Brass Music Association of North Rhine-Westphalia (BVN) from 1972 is the professional association for wind and brass music in North Rhine-Westphalia.

As a regional association, it is affiliated with the Federal Association of German Music Associations. It represents the interests of the members vis-à-vis the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia and the lay music working group in the North Rhine-Westphalia State Music Council .

Purpose, activities

The purpose of the association is to promote wind music , wind music and symphonic wind music in North Rhine-Westphalia. The focus is on promoting amateur music and youth work. The association only represents charitable purposes.

At GEMA , the BVN has concluded a framework agreement for its members to regulate performance rights, whereby up to 3 concerts per year are free of charge. Another framework agreement exists with the Artists' Social Fund (KSK). The BVN is represented as an association in the State Music Council of North Rhine-Westphalia and acts there as an intermediary with regard to the distribution of state funds to the members. Youth education

The BVN sees its primary tasks in the education and training of the young musicians of its affiliated music groups as well as the musical education of children and young people in general. Qualification measures are used for this purpose, the standards of which relate to the training and examination system of the Federation of German Brass Music Associations, such as the six-monthly implementation of the D-qualification measures D1 (bronze) and D2 (silver) for the young musician performance badge (JMLA) as well as the semi-annual training seminars for the D-qualification measure . Furthermore, further training measures for instrumental teachers and youth leaders are carried out to prepare for the D qualification measures as well as to carry out the junior education measure at club level. In addition, further training courses are carried out and financed at the BDB academy in Staufen im Breisgau and the Landesakademie in Heek for professional advice and support in the field of early musical education and for setting up and conducting wind classes.

orchestra

The association operates the Landesbläserphilharmonie Nordrhein-Westfalen and the orchestra The Young Winds , which was founded in 2012 as a training and further education orchestra with easier access requirements for young musicians in North Rhine-Westphalia . Both orchestras take part in competitions.
