The Bundesvereinigung Deutscher Musikverbände eV ( BDMV for short ), founded in 1979, has around 1.3 million members (60% under 26 years of age), and 18,000 orchestras , mostly run by volunteers, are organized there.

The tasks of the federal association are the support of the member associations, the coordination of the flow of information within the association, political representation of the clubs and associations in other organizations as well as within politics. Press and public relations as well as event management are other topics that the federal association takes on.

Projects

  • Innovation award honorary office (together with Messe Frankfurt ), annually since 2002 (3000 euros): for exemplary activities by orchestras. / For example in 2006 for a “sound studio” for young people in the “House of Music” in Köndringen .
  • The BDMV is one of the partners of dm -drogerie markt as part of the ZukunftsMusiker initiative , the core element of which was that 1,600 children received several weeks of free instrument taster courses.
  • On May 6, 2006, the BDMV together with dm-drogerie markt set a Germany-wide record as part of the dm initiative ZukunftsMusiker . Over 200 orchestras simultaneously played for a good cause in front of dm markets.
  • Organization of the German Music Festival ; every six years
