Blasted Mechanism is a Portuguese band formed in 1995 by Karkov and Valdjiu. Although the band was famous with up to 50,000 concert-goers in Portugal, it was only with their nomination at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2007 that they became much better known beyond the borders of Portugal.

style

With its idiosyncratic mix of electronic and hand-made music, which in turn is composed of self-created tribal music, reggae and funk, it is difficult to compare it with existing genres. They "actually" sing in English. The members Guitshu, Valdjiu, Ary, Simon, Fred Stone and Winga also live out their character as musical globetrotters - there are parallels to Indian, Brazilian or Australian music - with unusual costumes and instruments.

They describe their music as rock tribal music for aliens - human and not automatically generated. The formation, also known as the theater band project, describes itself as a Portuguese collective whose cornerstones are environmental protection, powerful music, fair trade and energy.
