Blattälchen ( Aphelenchoides ) are a genus of roundworms (Nematoda). Some of the species live parasitically on plants or fungi and some species are dreaded pests for cultivated plants.

description

Leaflets are between 0.5 and 1.2 millimeters long and are very slender. All species of the genus have a large metacorpus . Rear flaps made of glandular tissue cover the back of the intestinal space. The stylet (a primitive mouth tool ) is slim and has small nubs. The dorsal glands open into the lumen of the esophagus (esophagus) just in front of the contractile organ . The abdominal glands open behind the contractile organ into the lumen of the esophagus. The rear end is spiky in some species of the genus.

nutrition

Small alveoli live endoparasitically in the leaves of plants, and in some plants they can also feed on leaves and flower buds ectoparasitically .

Many species of the genus also live on fungi, these species are mostly found in the ground or in benthos in bodies of water. They generally have shorter stylets (less than 8 microns) than the species that feed on plants.

Systematics

The genus is large and currently contains more than 150 species. Some known types are:
